I work between words and images: poetry and other writing on one side, and graphic art, photography, and design on the other. My work grows from streams of consciousness and finding objects and language. It may be called surrealist or absurdist. The pieces emerge at the boundary between past and future, without a deliberate art-historical, linguistic, or aesthetic method. In the poems, rhymes sometimes arise by chance, like unexpected echoes in everyday speech. Found visual material acquires new meaning in much the same way. Everything I create is rooted in the world I inhabit today—which may simply be the world as it is.
I studied Communications and Theater Studies at the Free University of Brussels (VUB), Film at Columbia University, and Expanded Arts at The Ohio State University. Alongside my artistic practice, I built a varied career as in business, administration, and marketing and communications, while maintaining a lasting passion for performance art, theater, and dance. Since divorcing, I am raising four children as single parent. I have travelled widely, and, after living in Columbus for many years, made my home in Brussels.
I invite readers and viewers to move through my work as they would an exhibition: linger over what resonates and pass by what does not. It can also be experienced as dance or theater—a performance that invites you to watch, wonder, let your mind wander, and, hopefully, find your way back.
